About Us - Mountain West Chorale

Our Story

Founded in 1985, the Mountain West Chorale began as a small group of individuals who shared a passion for music. Founded by Richard Pearce and former members of the Kearns High School Madrigals (SLC, Utah), the choir has performed around the United States. In 2024, we went going to the Caribbean! Richard Pearce retired after our Caribbean trip and we are now under the co-direction of Don Krause and Kara Tebbs.

Can I join the choir?

We are always looking to add more individuals who love to share the gift of music with others. Please reach out to us to come and audition. We are always excited to meet prospective choir members, however, earlier in the season is a better time for you to come try us out (January through March, September through beginning of November). As we get towards the end of each season, we are focused on getting ready for performances and making sure the choir as a whole sounds good.

Who can join Mountain West Chorale?

Anyone who can carry a tune. We ask prospective choir members to come sing with us for 3 weeks and get a feel if we are a match for you. After 3 rehearsals, we will ask you to have an audition with our Director, who will gauge your range and what part would be the best part for you to sing based on your voice and the needs of the choir.

What kind of activities does Mountain West Chorale organize?

We organize a variety of activities throughout the year, including choir invitationals, concerts in the community, music tours and collaborations with the West Jordan Symphony and other members of the Cultural Arts Society of West Jordan.
