How we got started
The Mountain West Chorale, from Salt lake City, Utah, was founded in 1980 by alumni of Kearns High School Madrigals and their teacher Mr. Richard Pearce. This choir has since expanded to include performers from throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

Andy Nichols - Vice President
Andy found his way into the MWC after a 17 year absence from organized singing. An alumnus of Taylorsville High school, Andy enjoyed singing under Ms. Leah Tarrant in Men's choir, Junior Choir and Concert Choir. While he was not selected as a Madrigal, some would say that only spurred him on to become an even bigger showboat than he already was!
It was serendipity that Andy started talking to Shauna Denos at a summer 2018 meeting of the Utah Prisoner Advocate Network. He mentioned that he missed singing in a choir, Shauna said "Well I happen to be in a choir...", and invited him to come the next month. It was there, in September of 2018, at his first rehearsal with MWC that Andy met a lovely alto named Sarah. They were married two years later and have a daughter and son who will surely grow up to be singers!
Andy says, "Singing in the Mountain West Chorale is my "church". I don't have a specific religious belief, but the community and friendships (and of course my wife) is what I get out of singing with the Chorale."

What we do
We strive to enrich our members and the communities lives through the gift of music. No one walks away from a choral concert with a frown on their face! And as our conductor always says, "If you keep singing, I promise you will keep breathing!"
